Yoga is a unique form of exercise which uses breath work, movement of the body and stillness of the mind to bring about a deep sense of body-mind balance. Yoga not only strengthens, stretches and stabilises the physical body but also has a powerful effect on calming and focusing a busy mind. At Uthana Yoga the aim is to serve the wider community by providing classes that cater for all ages and abilities. Classes follow Veda Yoga methodology to bring a practice which incorporates Hatha Yoga (to align and calm your mind, body and spirit) and Vinyasa Yoga (repeated series of poses involving increasing body heat and building strength). Meditation and Pranayama (breathing practices) are included in all classes.

Classes are adapted to cater for the student’s needs and abilities and are adjusted according to daily and seasonal timing of the class. Yoga at Uthana is relaxed, friendly and all students are encouraged to work at their own pace and ability. We are all unique and must work according to our own personal needs and level.

Sound

Our Auditory perception is the first of our 5 senses to develop. As of 18 weeks in-Utero our hearing is active and already connecting us to the outside world. When we are ready to leave our earthly body, again, it is the hearing that is the last of the senses to go.

For thousands of years, ancient tribes, religions and civilisations have used sound as part of their sacred and spiritual practices. Rhythms, melodies, timbres, vibrations and beats have been used to increase awareness, expand meditation practices and deepen our connection to source of creation.

So what is a Sound Bath?

A sound bath is a body/mind listening experience which allows us to be deeply immersed or “bathed” into a variety of soothing, relaxing and potentially self-healing sounds. It is truly a deeply relaxing and balancing experience for Body-Mind-Soul.

You are invited to come and experience a group sound bath experience or for a more personalised relaxation experience book in for a Sound Massage.

Meditation helps us to focus our attention and awareness on the present moment. Practiced regularly, mind focusing exercises can help us to attain mental clarity, emotional calm and overall mind/body strength and stability.

Meditation is incorporated in all Uthana Yoga classes. 

Meditation can be practiced in many ways and is accessible to everyone in each moment.. 

Come and explore different Meditation and Mindful practices in a friendly, safe, relaxed environment with like-minded people. We cater for both beginners and experienced meditators. 

Private and group meditation classes are offered upon request
